A good rabbit hutch is a considerable investment and worth researching different options available. The main considerations when choosing a hutch are size, construction, easy maintenance and cost. If you're on a tight budget you need to evaluate if a rabbit is the right pet for you as a good rabbit hutch and enforced exercise is likely to cost around £ 300.
A good rabbit hutch should be made of solid wood (plywood), be constructed without nails or screws loose and have a waterproof roof covered with thick solid wood roofing felt. It should be on legs or stilts, so that the event is raised from the ground and should have at least two compartments inside, one of which is all solid walls to give the rabbit a sleep and shelter from bad weather. The door should have dense mesh, hinges and a safe catch-ideally, you should be able to lock the door. Rabbits were stolen from hutches and predators, foxes, especially, are very capable of breaking into a poorly built rabbit hutch.
The size is extremely important. The recommended minimum size for a rabbit hutch is 6 ft x 2 ft x 2 ft. The rabbit should be able to take three full hops and extend up on its hind legs. For a couple of rabbits, increase the size as much as possible. If you are not able to hop and stretch until then their bone structure can be badly affected rabbits, especially in young rabbits under one year of age who are still developing.
The best rabbit hutch is one that satisfies the above specifications and is connected to an exercise safe, permanent area of at least 8 ft x 4 ft x 2 ft. Run the exercise should be covered up as sides with metallica and checked frequently to ensure that the rabbit is not digging holes at the edges which can afford to flee.
Rabbits can live for 10 years or more, then the cost of a good hutch is worth it. A solid wood hutch means you will be able to maintain more easily. It is best to shop around online, rather than go to a pet store. There are many independent retailers selling hutches and you're likely to find a more convenient on-line in a store. You can also get hutches, tailored to your specifications and provide a safe house, wonderful for rabbits.
